At least nine pilgrims were killed and over 41 were injured after terrorists opened fire at a bus they were travelling in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. The mastermind Hakam Deen was arrested in this connection by a team led by Reasi’ Senior Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohita Sharma.

Well, IPS Mohita Sharma is an inspiration for many and she also won Rs 1 crore in Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). Hailing from Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra, her father worked in a factory while her mother is a homemaker.

As a child, Mohita attended the Delhi Public School, Dwarka and then went on to pursue an engineering degree from the Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, New Delhi. She then successfully cracked the government exam and joined the Election Commission of India (ECI) as an Assistant Section Officer in 2016.

It was during her job period with ECI that Mohita decided to give UPSC a try. It was her childhood dream to become an IPS officer. However, the journey to success wasn’t easy for her. It took her five attempts to finally secure AIR-262 and then she was selected for IPS.
She also participated in KBC season 12 and won Rs 1 crore. She was the first female winner and 2nd crorepati of that KBC season. She is married to IFS officer Rushal Garg in 2019. An active social media user, Mohita has around 116K followers on Instagram.
