Meet Gagan, a daily labourer who cracked IIT despite lifting gas cylinders for Rs 350/day
Gagan, a small-town boy from Atrauli, Aligarh has proved that ‘nothing is impossible’ for those who work hard. During the day, he worked as a daily wager and studied at night. His ultimate goal was to get into IIT, one of the premier institutes of the country.
His hard work paid off and he achieved an impressive rank in the JEE Advanced 2024. His life journey is a beacon of hope and inspiration for those who want to achieve something big in life.
Raised in a family of six people, Gagan’s father worked as a godown keeper at a gas agency. Gagan and his elder brother helped their father, lifting gas cylinders for a daily wage of Rs 350. However, day and night Gagan dreamt of his entry into IIT. Despite hundreds of responsibilities and family problems, he remained focused on his dream of getting into IIT.
Lifting gas cylinders for Rs 350 was the only way to bring money to the family. He had been doing this since a young boy. Through a YouTube video, Gagan revealed how education was never a priority in his community and many children, even younger than him, had to work to support their families.
He managed to buy a mobile phone and used online materials for his preparation. While he worked during the day, he studied at night. With his relentless effort and determination, he has now secured admission into IIT BHU in Electrical and Communication Engineering.
Now, Gagan has reportedly received a scholarship worth Rs 4 lakh from Physics Wallah and aims to work harder for his family.
