Despite being married off when she was only 14 years old and becoming mother of two kids at the age of 18, IPS N. Ambika overcame all obstacles to fulfill her UPSC dream. Today, she has cracked UPSC to become an IPS officer.

Her extraordinary success in life rightly proves that ‘if there is will there is a way’. Despite reaching the lowest point of her life, she has shown the path to bounce back in life. Her inspiring journey teaches us to succeed in life no matter what.

A victim of child marriage, Ambika was married to a police constable when she was only 14 years old. By the time she became 18, she was already mother of two daughters.

According to DNA India, the sight of her husband saluting an IPS officer during a Republic Day parade inspired her to become an IPS officer. Instead of cribbing about her tragic life with two kids at the age of 18, she decided to resume her studies.

With the support of her family, she resumed her schooling and subsequently her 12th and Graduation. With great determination, she shifted to Chennai to prepare for IPS. Unlike other husbands, Ambika’s husband was very supportive and took the responsibility of nurturing their children along with his professional duties while Ambika prepared for UPSC.

However, Ambika’s journey was hindered by numerous challenges, DNA India reported. She had to face three failures following which her husband asked her to return home. However, she remained unfazed and gave her fourth attempt and secured an impressive IPS seat.
