The Odisha government has taken disciplinary action against teachers of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs) allegedly involved in malpractice during the CBSE Board Examination 2025.

This move by the Odisha government is seen as a decisive one under its zero tolerance policy against unfair practices in examinations.

Suspensions and Show-Cause Notices Issued to OAV Staff

The disciplinary action follows reports of malpractice incidents at Padmapur Bandupali OAV and Padmapur Public School in Bargarh district.

The State government has suspended five teachers from four OAVs in the district, including two principals. Additionally, show-cause notices have been issued to 33 teachers to initiate disciplinary proceedings against them.

Government Reiterates Zero Tolerance Policy

The Department of School & Mass Education, through its official communication, emphasised that the action was taken in strict accordance with the government's zero tolerance stance on the adoption of unfair means during examinations.

In two separate tweets, the Department of School & Mass Education, Government of Odisha, announced on its official X account, “In accordance with Zero tolerance policy of the Government against adoption of unfair practices during examination, the State Government has taken swift & stringent action against teachers of OAVs associated with unfair practices during CBSE Board Examination- 2025.”

“Accordingly, 5 teachers of OAV including 02 Principals have been put under suspension and show cause notices have been issued to 33 teachers of OAV, for initiating disciplinary action against them,” it said.

885 Students Fail in CBSE Board Exams

The incident came to light following the announcement of the CBSE examination results on Wednesday. A total of 1,185 Class 10 and 12 students had appeared for the exams from the concerned schools. Out of these, 300 students passed with the help of grace marks while the remaining 885 students failed.

This large number of failures has raised serious questions about the preparedness of students and the conduct of examinations at these institutions.
