JEE Main 2023: New eligibility conditions announced for NIT, IIIT and CFTI admissions

NTA said the decision to add the new criterion has been taken following receipt of numerous representations from the stakeholders seeking change the criteria of 75% marks in the Class 12 examination.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a major addition in the eligibility conditions for candidates seeking admissions into NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs and for admissions based on JEE (Main) rank.

As per the new guidelines, for the candidates who qualify for admission in the NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs whose admissions are based on the JEE (Main) ranks, they should have secured at least 75% marks in the Class 12 examination or be in the top 20 percentile in Class 12 examination conducted by respective Boards.

For SC/ST candidates, the qualifying marks should be 65% in the Class 12 examination, the NTA said.

The agency said the decision to add the new criterion has been taken following receipt of numerous representations from the stakeholders seeking change the criteria of 75% marks in the Class 12 examination.

“In case any candidate faces difficulty in applying for JEE (Main) – 2023 Session 1 (January 2023), he/she may contact 011 - 40759000 / 011 - 69227700 or e-mail at jeemain@nta.ac.in,” the NTA said.

“The candidates are further advised to be aware of any fake misguiding communication in this regard and rely only on the information available on the official websites www.nta.ac.in and https://jeemain.nta.nic.in,” it added.
