The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar has invited online applications for the Merit-Cum-Means (MCM) scholarship and free studentship (renewal) for the academic year 2021-22.

As per an official notice, only eligible B.Tech and Dual Degree students (admitted only in the years 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21) can apply.

The number of MCM scholarship and free scholarship awardees shall be restricted to 25 percent and 10 per cent, respectively of the students admitted in each year. Already the process for online application has started from September 20 and the closing date is October 20, 2021. The last date for submission of hard copy of the application and other documents has been fixed on October 28, 2021.

Merit criteria: The Scholarship for 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students will be decided based on the latest CGPA. Students who have backlog in any subject(s) including EAA and have not cleared during the same session i.e. in 2020-21, are not eligible for MCM scholarship and free studentship for 2021-22.

Means criteria: The Gross Annual Income of a student's parents/ guardian and his family from all sources in the preceding financial year of 2020-21 (from 1st April 2020 to 31st March 2021) must not exceed Rs.4,50,000 (Rupees Four Lakhs Fifty thousand only).

While computing the Gross Annual Income of the family, the income from all sources of both parents and income in student's name, if any, will also be taken into consideration for applying the means criterion for all the classes. For the parents enrolled in service (salaried class), the gross annual income of the parent as shown in their IT Form16 for the corresponding financial year will be taken into account to determine the annual income.

Note:

-The hard copy of scholarship application must be signed both by student and his/her guardian otherwise it will be treated as cancelled.

- Under no circumstances the hard copy of MCM scholarship application for the year 2020-21 will be accepted beyond 28th October 2021.

-Those students against whom disciplinary actions have been taken or pending during the preceding year, or they have been punished by the competent authority under examination malpractice, or involved in violation of code of conduct at any period of time in the Institute/ Hall of Residence/Department /Gymkhana, are not eligible for the award of MCM scholarship and free Studentship for the year 2021-22.
