The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and certificate courses in open, distance as well as in online mode.
Like every year, the University has released a wide variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in distance and online mode in the month of February, 2022.
From the current session of 2022-23, the University has launched many interesting courses for students in the field of agriculture, food and nutrition, rural development, linguistics and more. These courses are being offered online by various departments of the Open University in the form of certificate, diploma, UG and PG programmes.

List of newly launched courses offered by IGNOU
Spanish & French Language & Culture
The programmes- Certificate In Spanish Language & Culture and Certificate In French Language—are managed by the School of Foreign Languages of IGNOU. The courses are available from the current academic session and candidates can apply for the programmes by visiting the official website of IGNOU-- ignouiop.samarth.edu.in.
The maximum duration of the course is six months. Students who have passed 10+2 and have the knowledge of English can take up the courses. The course fee for French is Rs 4,500 while Rs 6,600 for full programme in Spanish.
Master of Arts (Sustainability Science)
Managed by the School of Inter-Disciplinary and Trans-Disciplinary Studies, the course duration is two years. Graduates in any discipline can get admission. The programme fee is Rs 7,000 per year plus registration fee of Rs 200.
Certificate in Rural Development
The Programme in Rural Development, managed by the School of Continuing Education, provides a comprehensive knowledge of socio-economic factors affecting the transformation of rural society.
Candidate with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline can apply for this course while the duration of this programme is six months. The course fee is Rs. 1,800 for full programme and the registration fee is Rs 200.
Master of Arts in Rural Development
Managed by IGNOU’s School of Continuing Education, the duration of this programme is two years. Anyone with a Bachelor’s Degree or a higher degree from a recognized university can apply for the programme while the fee structure is Rs 11,800 for full programme.
Post Graduate Diploma In Rural Development
The duration of this programme is one year. Anyone with a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from recognized university can apply for the programme while the fee structure is Rs 2,400 for full programme. The registration fee is Rs 200.
Food and Nutrition
Certificate in Food And Nutrition programme is managed by IGNOU’s School of Continuing Education. Candidates can visit the official IGNOU website-- ignouiop.samarth.edu.in for details of the course.
No formal qualification is required to take up the course. However, the minimum age of the candidates should be 18 years. The course fee is Rs 1,900 for full programme, plus registration fee of Rs 200.
Diploma In Horticulture
Managed by IGNOU’s School of Agriculture, this is a one year programme. Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent can apply for the course. The fee structure is Rs 3800 for full programme, and Registration fee is Rs 200.
Post Graduate Diploma in Agribusiness
The programme is managed by the School of Agriculture while course duration is one year. Candidates who have passed graduation in any discipline can apply for the course. The fee structure is Rs 7,100 for full programme and registration fee is Rs 200.
Post Graduate Diploma in Food Safety & Quality Management
The objective of the PG Diploma Programme is to prepare professionals for development, implementation and auditing of Food Safety and Quality Management Systems in the country. The Programme has been developed in collaboration with the Agricultural and Processed
Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Government of India.
The course duration is one year while the fee structure is Rs 14,400 for full programme, and registration fee of Rs 200.
Eligibility Criteria For The Course
- Graduation in Science with Chemistry/ Bio-Chemistry or Microbiology as one of the subjects.
- Degree in allied Sciences like Agriculture/ Food Science /Food Technology /Post Harvest Technology/ Engineering / Home Science/ Life Science/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Horticulture/ Dairy Technology/ Veterinary/ Fisheries/ Hotel Management and Catering/ Hospitality Management, or equivalent etc.
