ICSE Percentage Calculation

Pass Criteria: Minimum 33% in each subject and overall.

Formula:

English: Average of Language and Literature.

Science: Average of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Social Science: Average of History and Geography.

  • Select best five subjects (excluding the lowest-scoring sixth subject).
  • Add marks of top five subjects, divide by 5, multiply by 100.
  • Final marks = 80% (external exams) + 20% (internal assessments).

ISC Percentage Calculation

Pass Criteria: 33% in each subject and aggregate.

Formula:

  • English is mandatory. Add marks from English + the top three subjects.
  • Divide the total by 4, multiply by 100.
  • Final marks = 80% (external) + 20% (internal).

Grading System

ICSE uses a 1–9 scale:

Grades 1–2: Very good

Grades 3–5: Pass with credit

Grades 6–7: Pass

Grades 8–9: Fail

SUPW grades are marked A to E.

Key Notes

A pass certificate requires clearing at least five subjects (including English).

Students failing to meet the criteria can reappear for improvement exams in July.

With over 2.5 lakh students awaiting results, CISCE advised candidates to verify details carefully and contact schools for discrepancies.
