UPSC Civil Services Exam is one of India’s toughest exams that requires a lot of hard work, patience, and consistency. Students spend lakhs of rupees for coaching and tuition in prestigious institutes to crack the exam.

However, many aspirants have proved that we do not need to spend so much money on coaching institutes that have turned education into business. One such person is IAS Arunraj who cracked the UPSC exam without any coaching that too in his first attempt when he was only 22 years old.

Hailing from UP, Arunraj was a brilliant student from his school days. After his intermediate, he went on to get admission to IIT Kanpur. Instead of becoming an Engineer, it was his dream to crack the UPSC and become an IAS officer, a DNA India report stated.

So, he started his preparation in the fourth year of graduation. After completing his engineering, he decided to focus on self-study and give more time for UPSC preparation instead of joining a job. He entirely depended on NCERT books to clear his fundamentals.

He also gave many mock interviews and made the proper use of online resources. His belief in himself finally paid off and he cracked the UPSC CSE 2014 in his first attempt with an impressive AIR-34. He is a Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer of the 2015 batch and is currently posted as the Executive Director, Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (ELCOT), Government of Tamil Nadu.

IAS Arunraj has proved that you do not need to spend lakhs of your parent’s hard-earned money in coaching institutes if you are truly dedicated to your goal.
