A day after the Odisha government gave green signal for the reopening of schools and colleges across the State from February 7, the Higher Education Department on Friday asked the authorities of State Public Universities and Degree Colleges to resume classroom teaching and other academic activities in physical mode.

In a letter, the Higher Education Department has asked the authorities to take necessary steps for the resumption of physical mode of teaching in Universities and Degree Colleges under its administrative control from February 7 by observing all possible Covid-19 preventive protocols.

In its latest order, the Higher Education Department has directed the concerned authorities to initiate measures for the reopening of hostels and other residential facilities for the accommodation of students from February 6.

On Thursday, Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra announced that the state government has decided to reopen schools and colleges in the State following a decline in the trend of Covid-19 cases.

As per the decision, physical classes for students from Class 8 to 12, along with colleges, universities and other technical institutions will reopen from February 7. However, classes for students from KG to Class 7 will reopen from February 14. The decision to attend online or offline classes lies with the student.
