He is one of the most transferred IAS officers in the country. He has been transferred a record 55 times in his bureaucratic career spanning 30 years. Meet IAS Ashok Khemka, known as the ‘most transferred IAS Officer’ of India. He is one of the most prestigious and diligent bureaucrats in India.

Ashok Khemka is Haryana’s second-most transferred bureaucrat after another retired IAS officer, Pradeep Kasni, who was transferred 71 times in 35 years.

Born to a clerk in a jute factory in a lower-middle-class family in Kolkata, Ashok Khemka is one of the most educated IAS officers of India. He is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT) with a B.Tech degree in Computer Science Engineering. He later went on to do his Ph.D in Computer Science. 

He also has an MBA degree in Business Administration and Finance. Thereafter, he appeared for IAS exam and got selected in the Haryana cadre. He also holds an MA Economics degree from IGNOU. 

He has also done his Bachelor of Laws from Punjab University. 

The 1991 UPSC CSE batch, IAS Ashok Khemka’s life journey is an inspiration for many. He is known for uncovering major national scams and corruption in almost every department he worked in.

Thus he often landed on the bad side of the government and was subsequently transferred and has been passed along in several state governments. Despite repeated death threats, he has unearthed several cases of corruption and scam.

Currently, he is posted in Haryana as the additional chief secretary of the Archives Department of the state.
