The Odisha Government has launched a scheme to provide free coaching and guidance to 200 aspirants who will appear for the Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

“It will be residential coaching i.e. food and accommodation will be provided by the government to the selected aspirants,” the official notification read.

“There will be a pre-qualifying entrance examination for selecting 200 UPSC aspirants. The entrance examination is likely to be held on March 26,” the notification mentioned.

Coaching will be provided for one year for prelims and mains examination for General studies paper only. However, the aspirants selected in UPSC preliminary examinations may continue the coaching for another one year.

“Interested candidates, having the eligibility as mentioned in the guidelines are requested to apply in the SAMS portal of the Higher Education Department to appear in the entrance examination,” read the notification.

The detailed guidelines about the scheme are available on the Higher Education Department website i.e. www.dhe.odisha.gov.in.

The last date for submission of online applications for the free UPSC coaching scheme is March 4. Candidates have to pay Rs 100 online at the time of submission of the application.

Candidates can download the admit card on March 16.

Last year, the Higher Education department had given free coaching to aspirants who had cleared the civil services prelims. Only Odia students from any educational institute within the state are eligible to avail free coaching after clearing the entrance examination.

However, those who had cleared their Prelims in the UPSC exams did not need to appear for the entrance test and got direct admission for coaching.
