Hundreds of Post-Graduate students of the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Thursday staged protest against the delay in NEET-PG counselling.

Over 400 students today staged a peaceful dharna in front of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo statue on the SCB premises and demanded to expedite the counselling process.

"We are not protesting here for personal reasons. We want to know as to why the NEET-PG counselling has been delayed after the conduct of the exam," asked a protesting student.

He further asked, "Who will be responsible for the mental stress and trauma that the students, who have qualified for the NEET-PG counselling, are currently going through?"

On allegations that the protest has led to disruption of health care services in the hospital, a student said, "We are not protesting here to disrupt the services, it will not be affected. We are PG students and have just not joined our duty today."

Resident doctors of various hospitals in Delhi have been protesting in front of the Nirman Bhawan in Delhi over the delay in NEET-PG 2021 counselling. Patient care has reportedly been affected at three Centre-run and some of the Delhi government-run hospitals due to the protest.

On Wednesday, several resident doctors in the national capital even lit up 'diyas' in the campus of a medical college to register their protest over the issue,

Besides, the IMA's Junior Doctors Network had on Monday extended solidarity with the resident doctors and wrote to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya demanding fast-tracking of the court hearing to expedite NEET PG 2021 counselling.
