Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday directed Collectors of 11 districts to close schools and other educational institutions tomorrow (September 27) in view of the cyclone Gulab, which is likely to make landfall by midnight of September 26.

Patnaik, who reviewed the preparedness by the district officials via a video conferencing from Delhi, today directed officials to take all possible measures to save life and property during the cyclone.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) PK Jena said that the Chief Minister has directed Collectors of 11 districts- Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Khordha, Puri, Nayagah and Kalahandi to keep schools and other educational institutions closed tomorrow in view of the cyclone.

“The Chief Minister has also directed Collectors to take appropriate decision regarding closure of schools and educational institutions on Tuesday depending on the situation in their respective districts,” said Jena.
