CUET UG 2025: Exam day guidelines, dress code and key instructions

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will begin the Common University Entrance Test (CUET (UG)) 2025 on May 13, with the exams continuing until June 3. The examination will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across various centers in India and selected international locations. 

Admit cards for candidates scheduled to appear between May 13 and 16 have already been issued, while those for the subsequent dates will be released in due course. In line with this, the NTA has also issued detailed guidelines to ensure smooth conduct of the exam, outlining rules on documentation, dress code, permitted and banned items, and special provisions.

Essential Documents and Reporting Protocol

Candidates must present the following at the examination centre:

• A printed copy of the CUET UG 2025 admit card with a recent passport-sized photograph affixed

• A valid photo identification proof (e.g., Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID, Passport)

• Two additional passport-sized photographs

• Transparent water bottle and a black or blue ballpoint pen

• For candidates with disabilities, a valid PwD certificate is required

It is imperative to arrive at the designated examination centre at least 90 minutes prior to the commencement of the test. Late arrivals, specifically those arriving 30 minutes before the start time, will not be permitted entry.

Dress Code Specifications

To facilitate efficient security checks and maintain examination decorum, the NTA has stipulated the following dress code:

• Attire should be light-coloured and half-sleeved

• Clothing with large buttons, badges, embroidery, or metallic elements is discouraged

• Footwear should be limited to slippers or sandals with thin soles; shoes and high heels are not allowed

• Accessories such as belts, jewellery, and metallic items are prohibited

• Candidates wearing religious or customary attire should report early to accommodate thorough frisking procedures

Prohibited Items

To uphold the examination's sanctity, candidates are advised against bringing the following items:

• Electronic devices, including mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, earphones, and calculators

• Stationery items such as pens, pencils, erasers, and correction fluids

• Bags, wallets, books, and any written or printed material

• Jewellery, belts, shoes, and any metallic accessories

• Food items, unless medically necessary, in which case appropriate documentation must be provided

Examination Conduct and Discipline

Candidates must adhere to the following protocols:

• Occupy only the seat allocated as per the roll number

• Utilise rough sheets provided at the centre for any calculations or notes

• Maintain silence and follow all instructions given by invigilators

• Engaging in unfair practices or malpractice will result in immediate disqualification
