The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued an important notice regarding the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) –UG/PG 2023.

In a letter to vice-chancellors of all universities (state, deemed and private) and principals of all colleges, the UGC has stated that the National Testing Agency (NTA) has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the CUET UG/PG. Already the schedule of the CUET UG 2023 has been notified.

In its latest letter, the UGC has said that many Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the country either use marks of 12th Board or conducted separate entrance examinations for admissions in UG programmes.

“To save students from appearing in multiple examinations conducted on different dates, sometimes coinciding with each other, and also to provide equal opportunity to all students from different Boards, UGC invites and encourages all state Universities, Deemed to be Universities, Private and other Higher Education Institutions to adopt and use CUET score for admission in their UG programmes,” UGC letter read.

On December 21, 2023, the UGC had highlighted the salient features of CUET UG/PG 2023.

-The number of subjects and pattern of question papers will remain the same.

-A candidate can take as many as 6 domain subjects in addition to one/two languages and the general test.

-Medium of examination: Any of the following languages- Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

-The examination will be conducted on multiple days in three shifts, depending on the number of candidates and subject choices.
