The registration process for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026 has officially commenced, bringing fresh opportunities for aspiring law students across the country, including those from Odisha. The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) opened the online application portal on August 1, 2025, for both undergraduate (CLAT UG) and postgraduate (CLAT PG) programmes.
Candidates aiming to pursue a five-year integrated LL.B. or a one-year LL.M. course can now submit their applications via the official website: consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
CLAT remains the primary gateway to some of India’s most prestigious law universities. According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024, the top ten law colleges in India include:
National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru
National Law University (NLU), New Delhi
NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad
WBNUJS, Kolkata
Symbiosis Law School, Pune
Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi
IIT Kharagpur – Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law
Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar
Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA), Bhubaneswar
Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow
With Bhubaneswar-based Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan featuring in the list of top law institutions, Odisha has marked its presence in the national legal education landscape.
As admission to these institutions is strictly based on CLAT scores, early registration and consistent preparation will be key. Students can stay updated through the official CLAT website.
