CBSE results 2025: Improvement scope in 1 subject for Class 12, 2 subjects for Class 10 students; supplementary exam in July

For Representational Purpose

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday announced the much-awaited results of Class 12. As per the officials, the overall pass percentage stands at 88.39 percent which is 0.41 percent high than the previous year’s results.

The CBSE had earlier announced that no merit list will be prepared to avoid unhealthy competition amongst the students. Also. the Board does not award first, second or third divisions to its students.

However, the Board will issue the merit certificate to the top 0.1% of students who have scored the highest marks in the subjects. The Merit certificate will be made available in the Digi-Locker of the student concerned.

Verification, Photocopy and Re-evaluation

Though the CBSE has a robust system of evaluation, it provides a transparent policy where students who are not satisfied with their performance in the result may avail the following facilities:

They can obtain a Photocopy (Scanned copy) of their answer book(s), verification of marks, re-evaluation, or both could be requested for .

These facilities can only be availed online and on schedule. A separate circular will be issued by the Board regarding these facilities. However, a change in sequence has already been informed by the Board in advance on 2.05.2025 to make the students well aware of the new system. No offline requests and no requests beyond the schedule will be accepted by the Board.

Improvement opportunity in Supplementary Exam

As per the National Education Policy, 2020, the students should be provided more opportunities to improve their performance. Hence, Class 12 students will be allowed to improve their performance in 1 subject in the supplementary examination, and  Class 10 students will be allowed to improve their performance in 02 subjects in the supplementary examination.

The following category of students will be eligible to appear in the Supplementary examinations: -

Class 10 students who are unable to pass up to 2 subjects and Class 12 students who are unable to pass 1 subject and are placed in the Compartment Category.

Students who are declared by replacing 6th /7th subject can appear in the failed subject.

Class 10 and Class 12 students who are declared pass but wish to improve their performance in the 2 and 1 subjects, respectively.

The Supplementary examination will be conducted in the first/second week of July 2025, and it will be held on the same syllabus on which the main examinations 2025 were conducted.
