With the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) likely to hold the Class 12 Term-2 Board examinations in March-April, if situation permits, students appeared divided in their opinion about the conduct of the exam in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic situation.

The fear of getting infected by the virus, if exams are conducted offline, continues to haunt the students and they demand cancellation of the board exam. However, a section of the students also feels that the exam must be conducted.

Considering students' safety, the Board must cancel the exams and prepare the results as per the marks obtained by them in the Term 1 exam, said a student.

Citing lack of adequate classes and pendency of courses, some students also opined that the Board should give some more time to prepare.

"Why is the CBSE not asking the schools affiliated to it for details of the courses covered so far? We are not demanding to cancel the exam altogether, but the courses need to be completed. Appearing for the exams without adequate preparations will serve no one's purpose," rued another student.

However, some students feel that the exams must be conducted as per the schedule. "Class 12 results play an important role in a student's career. And, therefore, CBSE should refrain from postponing the exam as it may create problems for us in future," said a Class 12 student.

Students have also flooded social media over their issues related to the conduct of the Board exams. "With respect sir, it is tweeted that term 2 is on April-May but how?how sir? Most of the schools here in Manipur i.e, Northeast are yet to reopen and there's not an offline class nor online class is going on so how are we going to do this in just a months," wrote a Twitterati.

On the other hand, CBSE on Tuesday warned students about a fake notice in circulation regarding the CBSE Class 12 Term-1 result announcement date. The Board also advised students to visit its official website for any updates.

Meanwhile, students have urged the Board to officially announce the Term-1 result date to put an end to all these rumours. "Plz CBSE you release a official statement about the term 1 results if you guys want to release it plz release  it or if u don't want then don't... But atleast give a official statement... For your Negligence they are getting the opportunity to spread fake news....," wrote a user.

"Most of the state boards announced the exam date days before. Not sure why the CBSE is still not doing so. Please don’t do it in the last minute," wrote another user.
