Resentment brewed among parents and students of Adarsh Vidyalay at Badasahi in Mayurbhanj district after the centre for the CBSE Class 10 examination for the school was made in Rairangpur, more than 120 km away from Badasahi.

As per reports, 65 students from the school are set to appear for the annual Class 10 examination under the CBSE. However, the students and their parents were in for a shocker after the admit cards arrived at the school in which the exam centre was mentioned as a school in Rairangpur, more than 120 km away from Badasahi.

Sources said, though the parents have already met the school principal demanding to shift the exam centre to a nearby school, no headway could be made in this regard. So, the parents have written to the district Collector making their demands and awaiting the DM's response.

Ganeswar Patra, a former MLA said, “We have staged a sit-in protesting the exam centre venue at Rairangpur. We have decided to write a letter to the district Collector urging him to make Badasahi Adarsh Vidyalay the examination centre for the students of the school.”

Mrutyunjay Acharya, a parent said, “As per the CBSE guidelines, the same school can be made an exam centre, but Badasahi school is an exception. None of the guidelines of the Board has been followed here.”

The government guidelines say that the examination centre should be made at a nearby school. In case of unavailability of any school in the vicinity, the exams can be conducted at the same school.

On being asked, the Principal of the school, Suman Dalabehera told OTV, “We received the admit cards on the evening of April 12 and got to know about the issue. I had called the head office in Bhubaneswar and informed them. They said to write a letter and the matter will be looked upon.”

The CBSE Class 10 Term 2 examinations are scheduled to be held on April 26 and will continue till May 24.
