CBSE Class 10, 12 Term 2 Exam: Board Urged To Conduct Exams At Home Centres

Amid the demand to cancel the CBSE Term 2 exams, students have now requested the Board to conduct the Class 10 and Class 12 exams at their home centres in view of the rising cases of Covid-19. 

Several students and parents have expressed their concerns over the alleged lack of adherence to Covid-19 guidelines in schools and said CBSE should conduct the exams at home centres by taking into account the safety of students.

"A spike in Covid-19 cases has been witnessed again. Appearing for the exam by travelling to a different exam centre in such conditions increases the risk of getting infected by the virus. I am worried about my children," said a parent while urging CBSE to look into the matter.

Students also took to Twitter to press for their demand. "Please give us the option to Change Exam Centre for CBSE 12th Term 2 2021-22 board exams," wrote a student.

It is worth mentioning that some private schools had earlier urged the CBSE to reduce the weightage of the Term 1 exam for the 2021-2022 session alleging unfair means and malpractices being done by some schools while marking their students. 

In a letter to the CBSE Chairperson Vineet Joshi, the National Progressive Schools' Conference (NPSC) had even suggested that the weightage of the Term 1 exam should be reduced in the range of 20 per cent to 30 per cent while the Term 2 weightage be increased in the range of 70 per cent to 80 per cent. 

On the other hand, resentment among parents and students of Adarsh Vidyalay at Badasahi in Mayurbhanj district was witnessed after the centre for the CBSE Class 10 examination for the school was made in Rairangpur, more than 120 km away from Badasahi.

On being asked about the same, Principal of the school, Suman Dalabehera told OTV, “We received the admit cards on the evening of April 12 and got to know about the issue. I had called the head office in Bhubaneswar and informed them. They said to write a letter and the matter will be looked upon.”

All theses issues, along with the safety concerns, are reportedly prompting students and parents to demand conduct of exams at home centres.
