Bihar girl Annapurna Singh has made her state proud by securing an impressive All India Rank (AIR)-99 in the recently announced UPSC Civil Services Exam (CSE). However, her journey to success wasn’t a cakewalk.

Born in Patna, Annapurna did her schooling there and later pursued B. Tech. After successfully completing her B. Tech, she got a job at Intel, one of the most famous tech companies in the world. She was reportedly working on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 5G chips.

However, it was after the pandemic hit that changed her life entirely. She returned home during Covid-19 and did not know what to do. That’s when she decided to give UPSC a try. Annapurna did not take any kind of offline coaching to prepare for her UPSC exams. It was all self-study during the Covid-19 that she focused completely on.

However, she was shattered when she could not make it in her first two attempts. This left her devastated, but she was one girl who would not give up. Instead of getting dejected, she doubled her efforts and worked hard for it. Finally, her hard work paid off in her third attempt and she cracked the UPSC exam with an impressive AIR-99.

Attributing all her success to her parents, Annapurna told News18, “My parents have been the biggest support. They were also involved in my preparations. My friends started saying that you should write a book on your parents. If I had not gotten the mental and emotional support of my parents in this exam, I probably would not have been able to crack it.”
