The National Law University Odisha (NLUO) in Cuttack has announced a single credit course on ‘Exploring Cyber Forensics’: Insights from the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023.

As per the official notification, this course is open for anyone who is interested in having a comprehensive understanding of the intersection between cybercrime and the legal processes governing the collection and presentation of electronic evidence under the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (earlier, Indian Evidence Act, 1872).

It is expected that the course will be helpful for students of law, judges, advocates, police personnel; and in general, to the persons interested in the operation, execution and implementation of the law.

Importance Of The Course

It is now a known fact that cybercrime has emerged as a significant global challenge as it encompasses a broad spectrum of criminal activities carried out using digital platforms.

The cyber crimes are not limited to hacking, identity theft, phishing, cyberstalking, and cyberterrorism.

As these crimes become increasingly sophisticated, the need for effective mechanisms to investigate, analyze, and present digital evidence has never been more critical. This is where the discipline of cyber forensics steps in, offering a structured approach to uncover and preserve digital evidence, ensuring it is admissible in courts of law.
