The Directorate of Elementary Education in its letter to the district education officers (DEOs) and block education officers (BEOs) has raised serious concerns over lack of action against the fake teachers.

It has asked them to submit their reports on actions taken against fake teachers within 15 days.

“In many cases the concerned certificate issuing authority has confirmed that the certificate is fake and not issued by them. Even in such confirmed cases, no action has been taken by the BEOs,” read the letter.

“It is pertinent to mention here that School & Mass Education Department and Director, Elementary Education had issued many instructions regarding disposal of such cases within time. Due to non-disposal of cases, teachers with fake certificates continue as such or under suspension which is highly illegal,” read the letter.

In her reaction, Ganjam DEO Binita Senapati said, “Our dismissal process against the fake teachers is underway. After receiving the report, BEOs are lodging cases and taking departmental action against the fake teachers.”

Similarly, Koraput DEO, Ramchandra Nahak said, “Our certificate inspection is underway. On the basis of the different boards’ report about fake certificates, we are registering cases against the fake teachers and terminating them as well.”

Now the question is being asked why the DEOs and BEOs are not taking action against the fake teachers. Utkal Parents’ Association alleged that the DEOs and BEOs are working hand in glove with the fake teachers.

“The DEOs and BEOs are working hand in glove with the fake teachers. This is why action against the fake teachers has not been taken,” said president of Utkal Parents’ Association, Purna Chandra Pati.

When asked, School and Mass Education Minister Pramila Mallick said, “BEOs and DEOs are taking action against fake teachers. The government is taking all necessary steps to strengthen the education system.”
