In good news for school teachers & employees, the Odisha government approved a proposal extend the Grant-in-Aid on the basis of the 7th Pay Commission to more number of eligible employees.

The extension will be for eligible employees of New-Aided Non-Government High Schools. Moreover, eligible employees of the Upper Primary (ME) Schools and Madrasa will be covered. The employees who are in receipt of 100% Grant-in-Aid as on 31-12-2021 will be benefited by such enhancement.

The decision was taken at the State cabinet meeting held on Tuesday and will cover all teaching and non-teaching staff of eligible institutions.

The extension of the State Government Grant-in-Aid will be done on the basis of the Odisha Revised Scale of Pay Rules, 2017 (7th Pay Commission).

According to sources, about 26,164 teaching and non-teaching employees of the newly-aided non-government high schools, UP (ME) Schools and Madrasas will be benefitted by the cabinet decision.

The additional burden on ex-chequer on account of the extension of the enhancement under the Grant-in-Aid will be to the tune of Rs 280.48 crores per annum.

The state cabinet meeting held on Tuesday approved as many as 17 proposals. Some of the key approvals included nod to direct flight connectivity to Dubai, Singapore and Bangkok from Bhubaneswar. Moreover, Odisha MSME Development Policy-2022 also got cabinet approval at the meeting. The new policy promises a slew of incentives including, exemptions, subsidies and waivers.

Furthermore, the tender for construction of in-stream storage structure across river Mahanadi at Choudhury Gada in Jagatsinghpur district and across river Paika at Tikhiri in Kendrapara district on EPC mode was also approved.
