The All India Institute for Technical Education (AICTE) has released a notification for online courses under the Credit Framework for Online Learning Courses through SWAYAM Regulation for January 2023 semester.

As per the latest AICTE notification, as many as six online credit courses will be offered during the January semester 2023. As per the Credit Framework Regulations, the higher education Institutions may allow credits only up to 40 per cent of the total courses, being offered in a particular programme in a semester through the online credit course through SWAYAM platform.

“The enrolment for these credit courses would start from the second week of January and the date of registration for examination would be notified later,” AICTE letter read.

It is pertinent to mention here that The University Grants Commission (UGC) had notified the UGC (Credit Framework for Online Learning Courses through SWAYAM Regulations during March, 2021. This facilitated an institution to allow credit transfer up to 40 percent of the total courses being offered by any higher education institution in a particular programme in a semester through online learning courses on SWAYAM platform.

AICTE has also adopted the credit transfers up to 40 percent on UGC pattern in continuation of AICTE (Credit Framework for Online Learning Courses through SWAYAM) Regulation and has already requested all Universities / Colleges, from time to time.
