With the five-day vacation announced by the Odisha government in view of soaring temperature coming to an end, classes in all schools across the State resumed on Monday.

As per the government’s new guidelines, classes will start from 6 am and continue till 9 am. At government-run schools, mid-day meals will be served to students.

This year, students will have a curtailed summer vacation. As per the government’s decision, the vacation will be for 10 days, starting from June 6. The parents had objected to the decision. They had suggested the vacation should have been in May, instead of June as May is comparatively hotter than June.

Earlier, School and Mass Education Department Secretary, Bishnupada Sethi had stated that there was no need for summer vacation in May.

This year, the summer vacation period has been reduced with an intention to provide more time to teachers so that they can compensate for the losses of study that students suffered during the pandemic time.

Worth mentioning, Matric and Plus II examinations are going on as per the schedule announced by the School and Mass Education department.
