In a major decision by the Odisha government, around 800 schools in the State will be upgraded under the PM Shri schools (PM Schools for Rising India), which will be in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP).

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi informed that an MoU has been signed for implementation of PM Shree School in Odisha. The MoU has been signed between the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India and the State of Odisha.

As per the decision, two schools in block and urban areas will be developed under the PM Shri school initiative. Official sources said that the PM Shri schools will reflect the curriculum and teaching methods recommended by the National Education Policy (NEP). Moreover, the teaching in these schools will be technology-based and there will be provision of ICT, digital lab, digital library and digital learning tools.

Reportedly, prominence will also be given on teaching in mother tongue which is expected to reduce the language gap between teachers and students.
