Jagatsinghpur/Cuttack: Fed up with slow pace of restoration works post cyclone Fani, people continue to hit streets in different parts of Odisha.

Local residents today blocked the Bhubaneswar-Puri road at Samatarapur over non-restoration of power supply.
"it is almost 10 days that power is yet to be restored in our area. We are facing problems due to lack of electricity and drinking water," said a local resident.

Apart from Bhubaneswar, hundreds of residents under Kaduapada gram panchayat in Jagatsinghpur district blocked Jagatsinghpur-Machhagaon road alleging non-restoration of power supply.

“There has been massive destruction in the district due to the cyclone. Though10 days have passed, but there is no power supply in the area which is creating problems for us," said a protester.

Several vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road for long hours due to the road blockade.

Similarly, in Cuttack district residents of Talbasta panchayat under Banki block resorted similar protest today. The locals blocked Khurda-Talabasta road near Champatipur alleging lack of power supply to the area post cyclone Fani.

“The villagers restored the electric poles on their own while the electricity staff did not show any interest in speeding up the works. The officials had promised us to restore electricity within 30 minutes after restoration work was completed, but we are yet to get electricity,” said a local resident, Vivek Kumar Rath adding that such protests will continue until electricity is restored.
