Protect WhatsApp from getting hacked by using these safety tips suggested by cops

No doubt WhatsApp these days is one of the important applications used by millions of Smartphone users for sharing data, pictures and for communication.

The increased dependency on technological tools has also increased the probability of cybercrime as fraudsters are coming up with new methods to dupe people on various social media platforms.

These days, a fraudulent app link is circulating on social media, which claims to be the official mobile application of the Pradhan Mantri Yojana (PM Yojana). 

Upon clicking on the link, it automatically downloads an application that can hack phones and potentially cause financial losses.    

This new cyber threat poses a serious risk. The fraudulent app link is being widely shared, particularly in Bhubaneswar unknowingly in WhatsApp groups.

Upon clicking the malicious link, users download an application that compromises their phone's security, leading to potential financial theft and personal data breaches, informed Anjana Tudu, ACP Cyber Crime.

How To Stay Protected?

•    Enable 2 Factor Authentication in WhatsApp. 
•    Do not click on unknown links and apk file related to government schemes.
•    Report incidents: If you encounter any suspicious links or fall victim to cyber fraud, report the incident immediately. You can call the cyber helpline number 1930 or file a complaint on cybercrime.gov.in
