‘Please transfer 30K USDT to...’: Scammers share account details for money transfer, know what happened next

There are many scams online that can surprise you. In the past, scammers needed your access and would send OTPs to trick you. Now, they have developed new methods.

One recent scam involves scammers messaging people with something like: “Baby, I’m going on a business trip for 10 days and my network isn’t good. Please log in to my account and transfer 30,000 USDT to my brother.” They also share login details for a fake site.

When users log in, they may notice a significant amount of money in their wallet. Scammers often take advantage of this by encouraging users to attempt a transfer.

However, to complete the transaction, users need a payment password. When users request this password, the scammers claim there's a network issue and suggest that the user send a small amount of money (typically between 3,000 to 5,000) to generate the new password.

Once the victim sends the money, the scammer blocks them on the messaging platform, leaving them stuck.

How can you protect yourself?

To protect yourself from scams, always verify the identity of anyone who asks for personal account details.

Scammers often claim to have large sums of money in their accounts to lure you in. If you don’t know the person, it is best to block them and avoid falling into their trap, as they may try to exploit your greed.

Be cautious of messages that create a sense of urgency or pressure you to act quickly. Never share payment information with individuals you do not know, even if they seem to be in trouble.

Additionally, always keep your software and security systems updated to protect against phishing attempts and other scams.
