Odisha police has intensified their investigation into the alleged murder of Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra, the Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) of Paralakhemundi.
A six-member police team led by Paralakhenundi IIC visited Balasore and Mayurbhanj for further investigation into the incident on Sunday.
The death of Soumya in a mysterious fire got murkier and had a fresh twist when his family members alleged that the murder was pre-planned.

A day after the family members of the deceased officer accused Soumya's wife and forest officials of killing the ACF over some malicious intention, the Paralakhemundi police registered a case of murder against three, including Soumya's widow Bidya Bharati Panda, DFO Sangram Behera and the cook who was present at home on the fateful day.
Father of the deceased officer had also earlier alleged that his daughter-in-law Bidya Bharati (Soumya’s wife) had murdered Soumya with the help of the DFO. He had also lodged a complaint with police over e-mail.
On the other hand, Bidya Bharati, DFO Behera and cook Manmath Kundu had refuted the allegations levelled against them. Behera said that all charges levelled against him were baseless.
