In an unfortunate incident, a man was stabbed to death while her wife was severely injured after an altercation with another family following accident with a goat in Puri district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Akshay Das and his injured wife Kanak, residents of Patasundarpur village under Astaranga police limits.
As per reports, Kanak was rearing her goats when one Kalia Das, son of Sarat Das from the same village, hit one of the grazing animals while driving his motorcycle. Subsequently, an altercation broke between both the families.

Later, Kalia along with his father Sarat and their other family members attacked Kanak and her husband with sharp weapons leaving both of them grievously injured.
Neighbours and some other villagers rescued the dying couple and rushed them to the Astaranga hospital.
Akshay however succumbed to the injuries and loss of blood on the way and was declared brought dead by the doctors. Kanak is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital and her condition is reportedly stable.
A palpable tension continued to seethe in the village following the incident. To avoid any untoward development, Astaranga Police have reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
