In a major development in the case pertaining to the disappearance of Kalahandi school teacher Mamita Meher under mysterious circumstances, the Odisha Police on Tuesday announced Rs 20,000 cash reward for information on the whereabouts of the prime suspect Gobinda Sahu.
The reward was announced for Sahu, who staged a dramatic escape from police custody on Sunday, following the recovery of a body from an under-construction site near the school campus earlier today.
Police sources said that the reward money has been announced for 'Most Wanted' Sahu to seek information about the location of Sahu, who is the president of Sunshine English Medium School, from the members of the public.

Police have put up posters of Sahu in different places in order to facilitate his identification. The reward amount will be given away to the person who gives information about Sahu.
Though the Sindhekela police on Tuesday seized an abandoned car reportedly registered in the name of Sahu, he still remains untraceable. It is suspected that the car had been used by Sahu to kidnap Mamita before she had been done to death.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sahu had been detained around a week ago for questioning in connection with the missing case of the lady teacher. However, on Sunday night, he made good his escape from the Titlagarh police barracks after he went to the bathroom on the pretext of washing his hands.
Sahu had been summoned for questioning after Mamita’s brother had lodged an FIR accusing the former’s direct involvement in the disappearance of his sister.
A police team on Tuesday morning unearthed a decomposed body using an earthmover from an under-construction stadium in Mahaling . The identity of the body is yet to be ascertained by Mamita's family. As per police sources, samples from the exhumed body will be sent for DNA profiling in order to ascertain its’ identity.
Mamita's family has reportedly told police that she was wearing a gold chain and a pair of anklets when she last left home. Incidentally, a gold chain and an anklet have been recovered from the site.
