A day after two persons were arrested for abetting the suicide by Tusharkanta Sahoo, a +2 student of Christ College in Cuttack on Monday, the deceased’s alleged girlfriend and her elder sister on Tuesday moved the Orissa High Court seeking anticipatory bail.
The sister duo applied for the bail apprehending their arrest by the police in the case.
The development came hours after the deceased’s family alleged that the sister duo is the prime accused in the case and intensified their demand for their arrest.

Yesterday, Dibyaranjan Behera alias Jubu and Kaushal Pradhan were arrested and charged with abetment to suicide.
Hrusikesh Sahoo, the deceased’s father said, “Dibya Ranjan Behera alias Jubu and his friend had helped the two girls- Chulbul and her elder sister. However, the sister duo who are the prime accused in the case, have not been arrested so far. We demand their immediate arrest.”
Sahoo said he had lost hopes on the investigation by the Cantonment Police and moved the Orissa High Court seeking judicial intervention into the case.
“The Cantonment police had taken the case lightly. However, the ACP (zone-1) and Jagatpur police probed the case properly following the directive of the Orissa High Court. Truth will come out if police arrest and interrogate the girl duo,” he said, adding, “my son will get justice If they are arrested and given adequate punishment.”
Speaking on the arrested of two accused, the deceased’s sister said, “We are happy with their arrest. However, we want the arrest of Chulbul and her elder sister Priya. They should be given life imprisonment or death penalty.”
Yesterday the police claimed that the sister duo along with the arrested pair had been harassing Tusharkanta for two-three months. On August 3, he was thrashed by the two men. Later, he jumped into the river from Dhabaleswar bridge on August 3 night. His body was recovered from the Jobra barrage on August 5.
