The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday intensified its protests seeking faster and stringent action against the perpetrators involved in the murderous bomb attack on party leader and MLA Mohan Majhi.
BJP youth wing members in Keonjhar district unit staged a massive protest blaming the police for failing to take noticeable action in connection with the case. Nine party MLAs from BJP also joined the protest in Keonjhar to pressurize the police administration to bring the culprits to book.
The party has warned that it would further intensify the protests in coming days if the accused were not rounded up at the earliest.
“The district Superintendent of Police (SP) had assured us to take exemplary action and arrest the accused within 24 hours of the attack. But nothing has been done so far,” said BJP Keonjhar district president Ansuman Verma.
Meanwhile, the police have claimed that the probe is on the right course and the assailants will be brought to book very soon. The scientific team which carried out the spot examination following the bomb attack had recovered gun powder, thread and iron nails. Samples have been sent to the forensic laboratory for testing.
Keonjhar SP held a disussion with nine BJP MLAs and promised them to nab the culprits within 7 days. The BJP delegation candidly said that if the police fails to take action, the party will take the protests across the entire State.
Majhi, who is also the Opposition Chief Whip in the State Assembly narrowly survived an attempt on his life after unidentified miscreants hurled crude bombs at his car on Sunday.

As per reports, two motorcycle-borne miscreants hurled two bombs on the vehicle of Majhi, who was returning after attending a public meeting.
A day after the incident, Majhi said that he had little hope in getting justice as the law enforcement agencies in the State are under tremendous pressure from the ruling BJD to shield the mastermind.
Earlier on Monday, the BJP activists also lambasted the BJD government while taking to the street in Bhubaneswar protesting the attack on the party legislator.
