Nabarangpur: Taking a serious note of the rising trend in the daily Covid-19 cases in Nabarangpur and Koraput districts, Odisha Chief Scretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and additional chief secretary of Health department Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra today visited the tribal dominated districts and took stock of the situation.

The two senior officials flew down to the south Odisha districts in a special chopper and held meetings with senior health and administrative officials of the districts on the measures initiated to arrest the spread.

Later, they also visited the Covid centre at district headquarters hospital.

During his visit to the hospital, the Chief Secretary said “Construction works for the oxygen plant at Nabarangpur district headquarters hospital will begin very soon. The Covid situation in the district has come under control as the Rate of Positivity (ROP) has come down to 17 per cent . The testing capacity will be increased in the district.” 
He said one RT-PCR machine is operational at the headquarters hospital.

Over 20,000 people belonging to the age group of 18-44 have been vaccinated in the district headquarters town while 10,000 more beneficiaries under the 18-44 age category will be inoculated soon, Mohapatra said.

Likewise, Koraput district which continued to witness only double-digit in the daily cases has been seeing a surge in the daily caseload. The district witnessed 198 fresh infections in last 24 hours.
