The State Health Department of Odisha on Friday informed about the death of as many as two children due to Covid infection.

Sharing details of the two fatalities, the Health department has stated in its Twitter handle that a 12 day-old baby girl in Cuttack District who was suffering from Hemoglobinopathy lost her life after contracting the deadly viral infection.

Similarly, a 5 month-old baby girl from Mayurbhanj District who was suffering from Congenital Acyanotic Heart Disease also succumbed after contracting Covid19 infection.

The government has however not mentioned the exact timing (dates) of the death of the two kids.

Odisha has reported a total of 69 new Coronavirus deaths as per a latest data released by the Health department today. The new fatalities meanwhile have taken the cumulative death figures in the State to 7697.

On August 25, the Odisha government informed about the death of a one-year-old boy in Bhubaneswar while a day later, demise of a 3-month-old girl child was also reported by the authorities.

According to statistics released by the State I&PR Department, a total of 106 children and adolescents have been found infected with COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

Among the 18 years plus age group, as many as 710 people have contracted the disease in the last one day which takes the total daily figure to 816 today.

The State's overall virus infection numbers touched 10048725 as on August 27 with 8271 active cases and 988854 recoveries.

Till August 27, a total of 21181280 doses of vaccines have been administered to people in the State which includes 16115816 first doses. Likewise, 5065464 people have received two jabs so far.
