Bhubaneswar: Admitting that the State Capital does not have enough doses of COVAXIN for the age group of 18-44, the Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Sanjay Singh on Thursday assured that it will be made available soon.

"While we have an abundance of Covaxin doses for 45+ age group, we are dealing with a vaccine shortage for youths,” said Singh.

However, he assured that the vaccines will be made available before the cut off date for the second dose.

“We had started drive to vaccinate youths on May 3. So the cut off date would be June 13 for the second dose for those who got their first dose on May 3. And I am sure we will receive more vaccines before that date,” he said.

Speaking about the COVID cases, Singh said, “Bhubaneswar is likely to witness a drop in positivity rate in the next 10 days. We are getting reports of crowding at haats and markets. If people do not get in line we will have to be more strict in our approach to enforce lockdown.”

He further urged the Twin City Police Commissioner to take action against the unscrupulous people who are preparing fake RT-PCR reports for money.
