The Puri Jagannath Temple administration on Thursday released a revised Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for strict observance by devotees during the Darshan and visit to the 12th-century shrine.

Earlier on February 14, a meeting was held under the SJTA Chief Administrator to review the SOP for management of situations arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The revised SOP will come into force at the Puri Lord Jagannath Temple from February 21, 2022. Here are the details of the SOP:

- Devotees can enter the temple for Darshan from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm on all days when the temple is open for public Darshan

- Devotees are no longer required to produce documents like final certificate of Covid-19 Vaccination/ Covid-19 Negative Certificate (RTPCR) for Darshan. However, there would be strict enforcement for ensuring COVID appropriate behaviour by all concerned

- The temple will remain closed for public Darshan on all Sundays in order to sanitize the temple premises as a measure to contain the spread of the virus

- A priority queue will be made operational for Senior Citizen devotees and others who are visiting the temple for Darshan. A separate detailed order will be issued in this regard by SJTA

- Arrangements for safe drinking water will be made for the devotees as they wait in the queue for Darshan of the Lords
