More than 300 cases of Covid-19 infection have been reported at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhubaneswar in the last 17 days.

Sources said that the infected employees at the State’s premier medical institute include, nurses and other paramedical staff since January 1, 2022.

It is pertinent to mention here that Odisha is witnessing a massive surge in Covid-19 cases for the past couple of weeks. The State has been recording 10,000 plus daily cases since the past many days.

On Saturday, the hospital authorities had decided to stop walk-in OPD services at all specialities and super-specialities departments in the hospital temporarily from January 17 (today) after many faculties, staff and students of the institution were found infected with Covid-19.

However, the OPDS will remain functional only for online registered patients and emergency cases. Patients who have made registration online can attend in their respective departments by showing their online booking number at the entry gate, AIIMS said in a release.

As per the notification, AIIMS Bhubaneswar 'Swasthya' app and telemedicine (WhatsApp call) services will continue to function. Patients are being encouraged to connect more digitally instead of visiting the OPDs physically. Telemedicine services will be functional from 9 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday and 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, on all working days.

Similarly, AIIMS Bhubaneswar Swasthya app will be operational from 8.30 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday and 8.30 am to 1 pm on Saturday on all working days.
