While the Odisha government is prepping up to contain the rising COVID cases in the State amid the fresh scare of Omicron, all operations in the Steel and Mines Department of the Odisha Government has come to halt after as many as 15 employees tested positive for the virus.

As per a recent order by the Joint Secretary of the department, the office will remain closed for two days.

The notification from the Joint Secretary stated that the department will remain closed on 16 and 17 December for carrying out disinfection work and breaking the chain of infection. 

Further, the notification also stated that the employees who are not attending office will work from home with a VPN and attend the office at short notice. The employees will also be available over the phone at all times. 

However, some of the employees have been selected for attending the immediate and urgent nature of official work. The employees selected for the same will attend the official works as per the roaster arrangements.

The office will resume its official functions from December 18.
 

The total recovered cases of Odisha stands at 10, 42, 002 after another 166 Covid patients recovered and were discharged on 16 December.
