Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Saturday recorded a slight dip in the number of daily Covid cases and the fatalities resulting due to the viral disease. As per the Health Department, the State has reported a total of 7729 new positives and 39 deaths in the last 24 hours. 

The spike takes the cumulative cases to 798699 and the death toll to 2912. The total recoveries climbed to 713055 after a surge of 10434 new recovered cases in the last 24 hours. Similarly, active cases also climbed to 82679. 

In terms of the fresh daily infections, a total of 4331 cases have been reported from quarantines while 3398 are local contact cases. Khordha continues to retain top spot with 1062 new positives in the past one day followed by Cuttack with 720 cases. Among other districts, Angul, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur and Puri have reported 449, 426, 442, 388 and 333 new cases respectively.

At 6, Khordha also saw the maximum deaths in the last 24 hours while Angul, Kalahandi, Jharsuguda, Rayagada, Sundargarh reported 3 fatalities each. 

As many as 68604 samples have been tested for Covid in the last one day which takes the cumulative tests to 12040830.
