The active Covid-19 case tally in Odisha breached 1,000-mark on Saturday after the State reported 231 new infections in the last 24 hours.

According to I & PR Department, a total of 231 new infections were reported in the State, a rise of 27 cases from yesterday's figures.

As per the department, 30 out of the total new cases are from the age group of 0-18 years. While 135 are quarantine cases, the remaining 96 are local contacts.

Khordha reported the highest 99 new cases followed by Cuttack (35), Balasore (13), Sundargarh (12) and Sambalpur (10).

With the fresh addition, the number of active cases in the State jumped to 1,035. 

As many as 68 Covid-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. 

Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the State has recorded 12,90,192 confirmed cases. While 12,79,978 patients have recovered, 9,126 have succumbed to the virus so far.

In view of the sudden spurt in the number of positive cases over the last few days, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday issued an advisory to make face mask mandatory in BMC area.
