The active Covid-19 case tally in Odisha breached 800-mark on Friday after the State reported 204 new infections in the last 24 hours.

According to I & PR Department, a total of 204 new infections were reported in the State, a rise of 43 cases from yesterday's tally.

As per the department, 18 out of the total new cases are in the age group of 0-18 years. While 119 are quarantine cases, the remaining 85 are local contacts.

Khordha reported the highest 86 new cases followed by Cuttack (38), Sundargarh (18), Balasore and Bhadrak (8 each), and Mayurbhanj (5). 

With the fresh addition, the number of active cases in the State jumped to 872. 

As many as 61 Covid-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. 

Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the State has recorded 12,89,961 confirmed cases. While 12,79,910 patients have recovered, 9,126 have succumbed to the virus so far.

In view of the sudden spurt in the number of positive cases over the last few days, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday issued an advisory to make face mask mandatory in BMC area.
