Amid decline in Covid-19 cases, Odisha reported the highest single-day toll of 52 deaths in last 24 hours on Monday.

The Covid-19 tally in Odisha rose to 9,24,699 while the death toll surged to 4,248 after as many as 2,803 people tested positive for the virus, informed the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) department on Monday.

With this, the active cases in the State reached 29, 620 while 8,90,778 patients have recovered, including 3,358 on Sunday, from the disease so far.

Of the fresh Covid-19 cases reported from 30 districts, 1,597 are from quarantine centres, while the rest 1,206 are local contact cases, added the I&PR Department.

As per a data shared by the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department, Khordha district reported the highest 475 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (441), Mayurbhanj (193), Balasore (155), Puri (154), Jajpur (153), Bhadrak (131), Kendrapara (119), Jagatsinghpur (117) and Nayagarh (115).

The districts which registered below 100 cases are Angul (97), Dhenkanal (67),  Koraput (65), Keonjhar (64), Sundargarh (62), Malkangiri (55), Rayagada (54), Sambalpur (32), Boudh (21), Ganjam and Kandhamal (20 each), sonepur (18), Bargarh (17), Kalahandi and Nabarangpur (15 each), Gajapati (10), Deogarh (9), Nuapada (8), Jharsuguda (7) nd Bolangir (3).

In terms of deaths, nine fatalities were reported from Khordha district, five each from Ganjam, Kalahandi and Puri, four from Kendrapara, two each from Cuttack, Kandhamal and Mayurbhanj and one each from Bhadrak, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Nuapada and Sambalpur.

The State has so far tested over 1,40,50,771 samples for Covid-19, including 71,122 in the last 24 hours.
