The Covid-19 single-day cases continue to remain below 10,000 for the fourth straight day in Odisha with the State recording 9,541 new cases on Sunday. With this, the positive tally in the State surged to 7,56,684, informed the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

At least 33 patients undergoing treatment for Covid-19 succumbed in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 2,719 in the State, a data shared by the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department said.

Five fatalities were reported from Angul district, three each from Boudh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Sundargarh, two each from Khordha, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Deogarh and Cuttack while one each from Ganjam, Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada districts, added the H&FW Department.

Of the fresh cases detected across 30 districts of the State on Sunday, a total of 5,343 cases were reported from quarantine centres while the rest 4,198 were local transmission cases.

Khordha district, which included the State's capital Bhubaneswar, topped the number of cases with 1,342 infections in the last 24 hours. This was followed by Cuttack (716), Mayurbhanj (695), Sundargarh (595) and Angul (562), said a data shared by the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

Other districts which reported cases between 500 and 100 are- Jajpur (489), Bhadrak (464), Kalahandi (315), Balasore (302), Jagatsinghpur (299), Bargarh (284), Nabarangpur (254), Sonepur (245), Nayagarh (230), Sambalpur (229), Koraput (215), Boudh (177), Keonjhar (177), Rayagada (164), Ganjam (150), Jharsuguda (140), Malkangiri (123), Dhenkanal (117), Kendrapada (114), Kandhamal (107), Balangir (101)

Dictricts which detected below 100 cases are- Gajapati (69), Deogarh (61) and Nuapada (50).

The active cases in the State stood at 95,266 while 6,58,646 patients have cured or recovered.

The State has so far tested a total of 1,16,45,402 samples including 48,649 on Saturday. Odisha’s positivity rate stands at 6.42 percent.
