As many as 872 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Odisha in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of positive cases to 12,99,112.
 
Of the total 872 new cases, 123 cases have been detected within the age group of 0-18 years while 360 are local contact cases. With the detection of the new cases, the Covid-19 active cases tally has now reached 5696.
 
As per the Health Department data, Khordha district topped the daily positive tally in the State with 282 new cases, followed by Sundergarh with 144 positives, Cuttack (96), Mayurbhanj (59), 26 cases in Sonepur and Sambalpur with 23 cases in last 24 hours.
 
Meanwhile, the continued COVID-19 surge in the Capital City has prompted Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to issue fresh guidelines for malls, street food vendors and other business establishments asking them to prevent crowding and ensure other COVID safety norms.
 
The civic body has advised all business establishments including shopping malls to check overcrowding and maintain social distancing of 6 feet. They were also asked to make face masks mandatory for all the staff and customers at all times.
