Odisha Reports 4,829 New Covid Infections, Active Cases Tally Breaches 20K Mark

The Covid-19 positive tally in Odisha surged to 10,75,698 with 4,829 new infections in the last 24 hours, informed the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department on Monday, while 4,714 new cases were detected on Sunday. It may be noted that this is the highest single-day spike in 2022. 

Out of the total cases, 448 positives were reported in the 0-18 years age group while 2823 are quarantine cases and 2006 cases are local contacts, respectively.

As per the I & PR department, Khordha district reported the maximum 933 cases, followed by Sundergarh (869), Sambalpur (644), and Cuttack (401), Balasore (210), Jharsuguda (189),  Mayurbhanj (162), Puri (130) and Bolangir (104).

Other districts which reported less than 100 cases are- Nabarangpur (85), Bargarh (84), Rayagada (82), Koraput (77), Angul (69), Bhadrak (69), Jajpur (66), Keonjhar (63), Nuapada (51), Ganjam (49), Kalahandi (48), Jagatsinghpur (46), Gajapati (32), Sonepur (32), Kendrapara (24), Nayagarh (24), Dhenkanal (23), Deogarh (19), Malkangiri (11), Kandhamal (8), Boudh (6) and State Pool (219).

With this, active cases in Odisha stood at 20,560. So far, 10,46,617 Covid-19 infected have recovered in the State since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Odisha so far has tested 2,61,78,973 samples, including 74,304 in the last 24 hours, for Covid-19. The positivity rate in the State has now jumped to 6.4 per cent.
