Odisha has reported 849 new Covid-19 positive cases including 130 infections in the 0-18 years age group in the last 24 hours. 

With these new cases, the State's positive tally mounted to 10,04,059.

Of the fresh cases reported today, 429 are from quarantine centres while the rest 357 are local contact cases, informed the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

Khordha district reported the highest 313 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (115), Balasore (48), Jagatsinghpur (42) and Jajpur (42).

On the other hand, the death toll due to Covid-19 surged to 7,628 after 66 more patients succumbed to the virus.

In terms of deaths, Cuttack reported the maximum 15 fatalities followed by Sambalpur (11). Jagatsinghpur and Bargarh registered eight deaths each while Jajpur reported four fatalities. Bolangir, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi and Sundargarh recorded two deaths each. 

Similarly, one death each reported from Balasore, Khordha, Puri, Rayagada and Subarnapur.

Odisha currently has 8,288 active cases while 9,88,090 patients have recovered so far, including 721 on Thursday.

The State has so far tested over 1,77,37,972 samples for Covid-19, including 68,717 in the last 24 hours. As of August 25, Odisha's positivity rate stands at 1.29 per cent.
